But construction wasn’t her first career. “I had been in the engraving business prior to entering the construction industry and was involved in an automobile accident that left me unable to perform the duties,” she says. “With the settlement from the accident, I joined up with a friend and we started buying heavy equipment to move dirt.  As a female company, it took off from there.”

After a successful run working in Southern California and Las Vegas, Fulton-Meyer sold her interest in the company and started her own business, On Your Case. Today, she specializes in construction defect litigation and insurance defense work for contractors and sub-contractors. She also provides accounting support for her clients.

For more than 30 years, NAWIC has been a part of Fulton-Meyer’s construction career. “I first learned about NAWIC when a Chapter (Temecula Valley) was being chartered in our area and the invitation came to our grading company. The instant feeling of belonging when I went to the first meeting with all those other ladies that worked in the same industry was something that I had not experienced before,” she says. “That was in 1991 and I’ve never looked back. NAWIC is a part of my family and no matter where I go, I always know that there is someone there to help me if I need it.”

Fulton-Meyer has given that support back to NAWIC members, too. She served two terms as National Secretary, Vice President, President-Elect and as the 2009-2010 National NAWIC President. Currently, she is the NAWIC Education Foundation (NEF) Treasurer. She has also served as President of NEF.
